Personality:
Devic is a rude, sassy jerk who deliberately teases and taunts those around him; part of it is to gauge their personalities (those who react with hostility or violence are people he can't trust), and part is that he's done it for so long he just doesn't know how to stop. He cusses freely and can get quite inventive with his insults and swears, generally not caring to act nice even to his allies (aside from Gin who is a small child), but he's fiercely protective of those he considers friends or innocents and will kill to keep them safe. If he gets enraged he behaves more ferally and thinks through his actions less, lashing out more violently - he may start damaging things without noticing in this state, including himself.
Lore:
Devic is a kind of demon called a Drivaen, who ended up traveling between dimensions after finding a portal-creating remote as a young child, trying it out, and promptly losing the coordinates to his home world.
Often faced with fear and violence due to his unholy nature, he grew distrustful and unable to settle down, especially after being held captive and tortured by a creature named Vortex. But after dropping into a new world with a serious wound in his side, Devic was found and helped by Speedline against his will, and soon found that both Speedline and Kikari would unconditionally help the demon. He decided to stay, currently living with the two and Gin.
Physical notes:
The red marks on his body are scars, remnants of injuries caused by holy weaponry (most caused by Vortex, who Devic loathes and will attack on sight), so he has a high pain tolerance. His claws and bladed tail are sharp enough to cut through metal and he can keep fighting through heavy pain and bloodloss, though he doesn't have much in terms of physical strength nor durability.
The gloves and shoes were given to him by Speedline, who worried that using his hands and feet was painful. Drawing them is fully optional.
He wags his tail when in a good or bad mood; softly if it's good, and sharply (like a whip) if it's bad. The intensity of the wagging depends on how intense his feelings are.
Other notes:
The portal remote is a prototype and is thus not very user-friendly. For example none of the buttons aside from the number buttons are labeled, making it very easy to get permanently lost. Devic hates anyone else touching it, as someone making the same mistake he did would strand both parties.
Surprisingly, Devic has a sweet tooth! He's otherwise carnivorous, though.
He has a habit of giving people he likes mean-ish nicknames. Kikari is called "Scrappy", and Speedline some variation of "that dumbass" (though Speedline doesn't always register this nickname). Gin is exempt, since she's so young, and Devic will use their real names when enraged or trying to break through to them.
He dislikes being stared at or being the center of attention, growing snappish and defensive if in such a situation for too long.
He knows a bit about repairs! He's entirely self-taught, as he had to keep his portal remote working, so while he doesn't know too much specific detailwork, he can fix common issues and help Kikari when the bot gets wounded.
Since he was moving between so many worlds before settling down, Devic sometimes has to check common things like whether Elvis existed or what cows look like. This means he's also rather genre savvy. As such, he's the one most likely to comment on suspect events, and can sometimes make remarks like "that or we live in a kid's cartoon". (He is unaware of any actual fourth wall though.)
