Lore:
Cross was originally purchased to be the assistant of Dr. Heartsease. Dr. Heartsease was working on ways to improve the world, but for unknown reasons his mental health deteriorated, until he finally burned down the entire lab with him in it. Cross escaped but was accused of setting the fire herself, a charge she accepted to avoid tarnishing her owner's reputation.
She was imprisoned and awaiting her trial when another bunny bot, Rainven, approached her. Knowing she was innocent, he broke her out and took her under his wing, teaching her his trade - information gathering. But Rainven had his own demons and one day disappeared, promising Cross he would contact her when he could.
But instead, Cross soon caught wind of a rumor that Rainven had been killed... and in trying to investigate found no records of him ever existing. Unable to accept this, Cross set out to find out what happened for herself, and ended up deep in a world she was never meant to find.
Personality:
Cross is clever and wary, assuming none can be trusted until proven otherwise. As such she's careful with her words, and will put on a facade to get the information she needs. Despite this she is sheltered and can be manipulated by by those with seemingly similar goals, swept along by promises and sweet words.
She has severe codependency issues due to her owner, which then got heaped onto Rainven. So while Cross isn't a bad person, she will do
anything it takes to find Rainven - even if it tears apart her moral compass.
Other notes:
Cross's real name is Amanda, or Amie as Dr. Heartsease would call her. "Cross" is a cover name, though she considers it her real identity.
Her model was advertised as a helper for animals or kids, thus the toy-like appearance. Part of her duties with Dr. Heartsease was in fact animal care!
Early in the story she gets manipulated and led astray by a jackalope bot named Leope Arcleaf. Leope is a downright terrible influence on Cross and later attempts to kill her.
